We are excited to announce the SECOND class in The Bean & The Guild Artisan Workshop Series.
This alcohol ink session features Mary Proffit. Alcohol ink is an amazing, fun, and vibrant form of art in which anyone can create a beautiful piece of artwork, no matter their art experience. The possibilities are endless…inking on tile, yupo, plastic, metal, glass, slick white glossy paint, ceramic vases and photo paper. Just to name a few non porous items. Alcohol ink is a pigmented dye with an alcohol base. They are quick to dry but can be manipulated with rubbing alcohol even after it has dried completely. So come ready to learn and experiment and have fun. And it can stain your clothes so wear old jeans.
In this class you will learn
-How to move the ink….using straws, felt, brushes, isopropyl alcohol and gravity.
-How to mix colors and not get muddy brown.
-How to paint on ceramic tile…which is the easiest substrate to paint with ink.
-How to use only 3 colors and create a beautiful flower.
-How to remove ink and start over.
-How to create an interesting background for your flowers.
-How to add details with a sharpie.
-Everyone will complete 2 inked tiles that will be sprayed with Kamar to set the ink for you to take home.
These tiles will be for decorative use only and can be displayed on an easel. But if one wishes, they can later be coated with a clear resin and be used as a coaster after you take them home. This class will not lend time to mix, pour and cure resin which takes a couple of days.
